"Since moving to Virginia in 1997, I’ve called Albemarle County and the surrounding area my home. From my Pantops family owned business, I have literally had a front row seat for more than 20 years, witnessing the impact of high density development in Rivanna District, coupled with residential tax assessments that have exceeded 15% this year! I’m further disappointed that Albemarle County plans to spend more than it receives in revenue over the next 5 years. “We have experienced a decline in our quality of life, while the current Board of Supervisors would have us believe that more spending, and Increasingly bloated county government and programs are the solution.” All while people are struggling to meet their basic needs.
I believe there is a better way for residents of Albemarle to meet future challenges, rather than accepting accelerated spending and increased debt services. I believe in sound, fiscal accountability, bringing transparency to the entire budget process, with line item justification for every expenditure! We deserve to know how our tax dollars are being spent. I believe we should be able to see our return on investment for the tax dollars being collected and spent by the County Board of Supervisors. I believe residents could benefit by keeping more of their hard earned income, than giving more to the county. "
